  1. Hi David

Never thought you looked like a “Boer” so you must have been safe, well done for turning back to discuss, hopefully there will be no repeat. We live in a wonderful open country and don’t need these negatives to spoil it for any future enthusiasts, particularly from off shore. Just as well the taxi missed as you would no doubt have been acused of pushing him into its path. Look forward to future updates and enjoy the ride and the evening refreshments. Cheers Chris G from Cpt.

What, only 55 !!?? Still a puppy. Probably feels by now like one of the spikes got stuck in the wrong place.
You may be aware that Riaan Manser and Dan Skinstad are attempting to paddle around Iceland. That’s fasbyt for you. Don’t give them much chance meself. but time will tell.

I had no idea this was such an epic journey – not in itself alone but the rain has added a certain ‘frisson’ it would seem. .

Am writing this sitting next to the fire, hot tea and all warm and …feeling sloth like and highly unadventurous! Coupled by the fact that I had lunch with second cousins yesterday ( yes, some people are still aware and track the family tree protocol..) where my (distant) cousin is trekking unaided to the North Pole. Andrew van der Velde.

Apparently this runs in the family as I am reminded that my great great uncle was Sir Edmund Hilary – but this level of braving the elements and fearless adventuring has missed my little genetic puddle. I take adventures in other forms – single parenting triplets and being a gypsey… mmm, maybe not so different!

    Following you in spirit!
    J

  5. Life is full of surprises!
Never know who is going to pop up at our B&B and having the 3 of you staying here at Moreson Manor in Riebeek Kasteel was serendipitous – What spirit! What an acheivement, what drive!

  6. Dear David

I am busy working on a project to create an epic walking pilgrimage in South Africa, from Grahamstown to Cape Town (see my website http://www.indlelayobuntu.co.za). I am sure that I can really gain a lot from your experience of establishing trails. Would you be happy to share some of your learnings and wisdom – and encouragement – with me?

    Thanks
    George

ovation, from Hidden Hills, California I want to tell you, I loved this post. However, it is weird how I ended up on your post. I searched for elegant limousine on Yahoo and ended up on your website. I must say I do like your site and will check back soon. But I need to find the limo I was originally looking for first. Have a great day! so long.
